It has been widely reported across the health and safety media that the original PPE Directive has been replaced by a new PPE Regulation. We are now in a two year transition period for Member States to prepare for the introduction of this new Regulation.
The new regulation is mandatory, involves anyone working in the PPE industry and carries new and wider responsibilities for commercial operators. With this in mind, it is important that people fully understand how and if they are affected. It is vital for us as a Federation that the membership is fully informed ahead of the “get go” date in April 2018.
We are working with the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) to publish guidelines that will make understanding the regulations easier. We will also be hosting two open forum days with the BIS to give members the opportunity to give their views and air any concerns in the build up to these guidelines. These will be held during the first fortnight in July in both Manchester and Bracknell.
Members, await your invites!
